Unique Programs or Strengths of School

Cirque

The arts are an integral part of Rabun Gap life. Our commitment to the arts can be seen on our school's walls, in our many theatre productions and concerts, and in our new Arts & Technology Building, an awesome facility containing a 630-seat theater and dedicated classrooms and studios for the performing, visual, graphic, and musical arts. Here at Rabun Gap, each student will have the opportunity, the tools, and the encouragement to discover, nurture, and express his or her talents.

A special feature of our performing arts department is Cirque. Modeled after Cirque de Soliel, Cirque showcases students talents in acrobatics, music, drama, dance and balance. Special trainers work with students to build the skills and safety awareness to perform acts such as trapeze and balancing on swaths of silk high above ground.

Real World Education

Here at Rabun Gap, we instill life-long learning through a variety of teaching methods, including hands-on opportunities. In addition to our work program, we expose students to real-world education through community service and tutoring programs; literary anthology, newspaper, and yearbook production clubs; and visual and performing arts opportunities. Students also participate in Intersessions, which are one-week excursion trips led by teachers. Trips include exploring the history of Gettysburg, researching ecosystems along the Georgia coast, hiking the Appalachian Trail, visiting the Kennedy Space Center, and much more.

Dormitory Parents

Rabun Gap’s residence halls are staffed with full time dorm parents whose only job is being a Dorm Parent. Our dorms are staffed with caring concerned adults who are committed to and interested in the daily lives of our students. Because dorm parenting is their only job, Dorm Parents can dedicate all of their time to what they do best and what the students need most, guiding students through the daily choices they must make regarding their studies, activities and personal relationships.
