Athletics
Athenian offers a very wide selection of athletic activities and teams in which all students may participate. Several teams have won championships in recent years. Modern athletic facilities are on campus. All students take a physical edcuation course or take part in a sports team. Physical education includes such activities as yoga, dance, ulimate frisbee, hiking, and weight lifting. Competitive sports teams include basketball, baseball, soccer, cross-country running, track and field, swimming, tennis, wrestling, volleyball, and softball. Arts
Students of all abilities must take courses and participate in visual or performing arts. Modern facilities and professional artists ensure that highly talented students students may reach their full potential in music, dance, art, and theatre. Athenian students enjoy recently expanded facilities for painting, drawing, sculpture, pottery, stained glass, dance, and theater. Athenian plans a new choral music builidng in the next six months.

International Programs
Extraordinary international experiences include Round Square exchanges and community service projects around the world, as well as an annual international conference at one of the member schools.Athenian is a founding member of the Round Square Consortium of Schools, featuring more than 60 schools on five continents, from Peru and Japan to India and Germany. In 1998 Athenian hosted the conference, welcoming to the Athenian campus over 250 students and teachers from around the world. Athenian teachers also lead international trips during spring break with a community service, educational, or language learning focus. Athenian broadens students’ horizons and futures!
Hands-On Learning
Outstanding and varied hands-on learning programs engage students in their education, the community, and the wider world. Graduation requirements include community service (30 hours each year) and the Athenian Wilderness Experience (grade 11 only). They shape each student uniquely and build camaraderie in the student body. Town Meetings allow students to participate in school governance. Two distinctive programs involve in unparalleled hands-on projects: a nationally award-winning robotics team and an airplane construction project, beginning work on its second full-size fully functional airplane. Learning can be exciting!
