Unique Programs or Strengths of School

Equine Science

Wasatch Academy has a full time Equine Science Director. It’s a very popular program with students who love to showcase their skills. Our setting in the American west naturally lends itself to enhancing the popularity of this program.

The Equine Science program offers both Western and English horsemanship classes: dressage, barrel racing, equitation, jumping, polo, hunter under saddle, Western pleasure, horsemanship, reining, roping, and high school rodeo. Equine classes also include stable management, nutrition, and healthcare, and training techniques.

Equine Science is also available in the summer months. Wasatch Academy Summer Session begins June 24, 2007 to August 4, 2007. Please contact us for more information (We welcome 7th and 8th grade students for our summer session).

Dance and Theatre

Wasatch Academy has professional dance and theatre instructors who train our students. The theatre program competes at the state level. They produce and perform two performances each year. This year, the Bootstrap Players perform Twelfth Night. Courses available are: play production, acting, comedy, stagecraft, and film production. Many graduates of this program pursue these interests at the university level.

Wasatch Academy’s dance courses are: yoga, hip-hop, dance technique (ballet and jazz), and cheerleading. Students with beginning through advanced skill levels are encouraged to join. The competitive dance company continues to gain success. The dance company competes throughout Utah in the winter season.

Outdoor Program: Snowboarding & Skiing

Utah boasts that it has the greatest snow on earth! The site of the 2002 Winter Olympics, snowboarding and skiing are naturally the most visible components of our outdoor program. Students and faculty enjoy an unparalleled range of outdoor activities, from rock climbing in nearby Maple Canyon or in Canyon Lands, river rafting down the Colorado River, hiking, camping, and snowshoeing as an afternoon activity. Wasatch Academy is surrounded by six National and many more State parks. We take full advantage of utilizing our beautiful surroundings with outdoor recreation trips nearly every weekend.

The snowboarding program has two levels: The competitive snowboarding team practices daily after the academic day. The developmental snowboarding team practices every other day. The Wasatch Academy cabin and snow park is located fifteen minutes from campus.
