Unique Programs or Strengths of School

Exceptional Science Facilities

Cranbrook has both science and art museums located right on campus. A lightning lab, laser light shows, and live bats have made Cranbrook Institute of Science the areas premier natural history museum. Cranbrook Art Museum offers exceptional exhibitions of modern and contemporary art, architecture, and design in all media. Approximately 250,000 people from off campus come to visit these each year. In addition to hosting popular touring exhibits, each museum has a permanent collection. The Cranbrook curriculum is enriched by having these spectacular facilities on campus.

Technology Education

Cranbrook is a pioneer in the use of Smartboards in the classroom. Teachers use these technologically advanced interactive whiteboards in the classroom to demonstrate concepts, access the internet, and take notes. The class notes can then be downloaded to the teachers' websites for students to review in the evening. All residential students have high-speed internet connections in their rooms.

College Placement

We believe that in today's competitive environment, preparation for college should be comprehensive and challenging. Thus, our entire program is geared toward preparing students to be successful at the university that they choose. With four full-time college placement professionals at Cranbrook, each counselor typically works with fewer than 50 seniors each year. Each year well over 100 colleges and universities come to Cranbrook to interview our students.
