Admiral Farragut Academy - St. Petersburg, Florida
Academics
Students at Admiral Farragut Academy are part of a dynamic community, which prides itself on learning, leadership and service. At AFA we are dedicated to educating students in preparation for college, while instilling values of leadership and character. We accomplish this through a rigorous academic program, with instruction provided by our talented division faculties. AFA's strong college preparatory curriculum provides a traditional liberal arts education, preparing students to go on to study at leading colleges, universities and service academies.
Athletics
Admiral Farragut Academy believes that sportsmanship and working together as a team are two of the most important values our cadets will learn through participation in athletics. We also believe it is important for our student athletes to learn the values of maximum effort, dedication and sacrifice to reach all of their goals. We hold athletics as another classroom where our students can gain valuable life lessons.
Admiral Farragut Academy is a member of the FHSAA and cadets can participate in sports at the varsity and junior varsity levels. Our coaches work with the athletes to help each individual reach his or her maximum potential in a team oriented program.
BlueJacket teams have been successful in the past few years. The boys' basketball team won the State Championship in 2004. The Cross Country team is a two time State Champion. We have also had several individual athletes earn regional and State Championships in swimming and diving, track and field, and cross country. Some of these same athletes have also earned All American status in Swimming and Diving. AFA is proud to have many of our athletes competing in college sports including several in Division I programs. Most notable are Marreese Speights, who was a member of the University of Florida's 2006 National Championship basketball team and recently the first round draft pick of the Phildelphia 76ers of the NBA, and Claire Thompson, University of South Carolina freshman, who qualified for the U.S. National Swim Team's Olympic Trails.

Each Upper Division cadet is enrolled in Naval Science which meets one period a day, and all cadets, in grades 6-12, drill as a battalion once a week.
