Film

Students are able to study various facets of film making including acting for film, directing and writing. Schools offer courses in which students collaboratively create and produce films. Such courses are typically taught by experienced professionals in the film industry. Other courses explore the history of films as well as contemporary cinema.

In a sample filmmaking course, for those with a serious interest in the art of film, students learn techniques, from storyboarding through all the stages of shooting, developing, and editing to create short, silent films. Instruction might include hands-on work in the production of these silent films, supported and inspired by regular exposure to essential film history and theory. Students would work collaboratively to conceptualize, plan, shoot, process, and edit a variety of films, from short exercises to independent projects.
