University Preparation

The Consortium’s schools are college-preparatory. It is their job to prepare students to enter a great university where, statistically, boarding school graduates are more successful than public school graduates. Each of our schools has a counseling office with a staff committed to helping students select their most suitable universities or colleges and gain entrance. More often than not, boarding school graduates receive scholarships or tuition discounts at university.

Virtually 100% of boarding school graduates attend universities, and the vast majority of them attend the university of their choice.

Numerous studies have shown that boarding school graduates are more successful and happier at university than their public school counterparts. By the time boarding school graduates arrive at university they have already learned how to study, manage their time, set goals for themselves, think independently, and be active participants.

University entrance procedures in North America are often different from the procedures of other countries. For example, universities do not have agreements with partner or feeder schools to accept a certain number of graduates each year. Therefore, it is important for university applicants to demonstrate their talents and maturity, something that boarding schools teach them to do much more successfully than public schools.

Each Consortium school boasts a university counseling office with a staff dedicated to helping students select the most suitable universities and gain entrance. Counseling officers understand university admissions and typically have many friends and contacts in this field. They are very good at advising boarding school students on which university is most suitable and how to be admitted. Often, boarding school graduates receive scholarships or tuition discounts at university.

Typically, planning for university entrance is interwoven throughout the high school experience, through testing, advising, and contacts with university counselors and university representatives. Every effort is made to encourage students to plan for college comprehensively and thoughtfully.

The list of universities that have recently accepted graduates of Consortium schools is extensive. It includes all Ivy League Universities, the best liberal arts colleges the leading state universities, as well as the universities for the visual and performance arts.
